United Ignite - Business Idea Pitching Competition 2081

United College recently hosted the United Ignite - Business Idea Pitching Competition under the United Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Incubation (UCEII). This event aimed to uncover students' entrepreneurial potential and provide them with a platform to develop their ideas into real businesses. The competition took place in five phases, engaging students through different stages of idea development and presentation.
The competition began with the submission and presentation of concept papers on the 4th of Shrawan 2081. A total of 19 concept papers were received from enthusiastic participants. Following this, on the 6th of Shrawn, a business plan orientation was conducted, where 57 students were trained by expert supervisors to refine their ideas and develop structured business plans. The next phase, held on the 20th and 22nd of Shrawn, involved the submission and shortlisting of business plans. Out of 19 submissions, 16 were selected for the preliminary presentation.
The preliminary presentation took place on the 25th of Shrawn, where the shortlisted teams showcased their ideas before a panel of judges. After a thorough evaluation, nine business plans were selected for the final round. The final presentation was held on the 32nd of Shrawn, where the finalists pitched their innovative business ideas before a distinguished panel of judges, esteemed guests, Faculty members, and students. This final stage provided students with an invaluable experience, simulating a real-world entrepreneurial pitch session.
Following the final presentations, the winners of United Ignite 2081 were announced. The first-place award was secured by the Team Naya Straws, represented by Subham Kharel and Shreedip Shah, earning a cash prize of Rs. 15,000. The second-place winners were the Giga Genius Team, comprising Sandhya Rai, Animon Rapacha, and Lasata Tamrakar, who received Rs. 10,000. The third-place award went to Ari Beauty Point & Training Centre, presented by Grishma Shakya, with a prize of Rs. 5,000.
The final event was graced by renowned judges, including Dr. Tshering Lama, Chairman and Co-founder of Idea Studio Nepal, Aashis Thakur, Chairman of Glocal Pvt. Ltd., and Samrat Shrestha, a business idea developer. Alongside them, esteemed members of United Academy Group, such as Founder Chairperson Dripa Chamling, Founder Director Nara Hang Rai, and Principal Dr. Lal Rapacha, attended the event, adding prestige and value to the competition.
With the overwhelming success of United Ignite 2081, United College is now planning to expand the competition to an inter-college level in 2082, inviting students from different institutions to participate and bring forward their innovative business ideas. This initiative not only encouraged students to think creatively and develop practical business ideas but also provided them with an opportunity to gain a real-world experience in pitching their concepts to investors and industry leaders. United Ignite is set to become a significant platform for young entrepreneurs in Nepal, fostering innovation and paving the way for future business success.
