Introduction
United College, in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC),
Nepal, conducted the Scientific Research Article Writing Training for Teaching Faculty
from April 18 th to April 26 th , 2025. The 5-day training aimed to strengthen research
writing capacities among the members of the teaching faculty. It was a significant
component of the ongoing faculty development activities being conducted at United
College.
The program invited experienced resource persons who provided the
participants with the tools, techniques, and knowledge required to write and publish
quality scientific research papers. The program was conducted for the initial three
days at the United Seminar Hall and the last two days at a peaceful atmosphere of Om
Adhyaya Resort in Tistung.
Purpose of the Training
The overall aim of the training was to provide hands-on experience to the
faculty members in writing and publishing scientific research articles, which are
essential to their academic development. The training aimed at enhancing a better
understanding of research methods, article writing skills, and publication processes
and capacitating participants to produce scientifically quality articles that could meet
international academic standards.

The program had a very impressive panel of resource persons, each with their own
experience in academic research and writing:
 Prof. Dr. Bhoj Raj Aryal
 Associate Prof. Dr. Dhurba Lal Pandey
 Assistant Prof. Baburam Timsina
 Dr. Binod Lingden
 Dr. Lal Rapacha
 Dr. Dhan Raj Chalise
 Dr. Tej Bahadur Karki
Every specialist presented their extensive research writing, manuscript
preparation, and publishing process expertise and provided the attendees with
sufficient information on academic writing and academic publishing.

Participants
The training was graced by the active involvement of United College's teaching staff,
with guest participants from Central College, Sinamangal, Kathmandu. The interactive
nature of the sessions promoted teamwork and networking among the participants,
who exchanged ideas and experiences and learned from each other.

Program Structure and Sessions
Over the five days, the training program covered the most significant aspects of
scientific research writing, including

 Structure of a Research Article: The participants were taught some necessary
key elements of a research article, such as the introduction, method, results, and
discussion.
 Writing Techniques: Tips and strategies for clear, concise, and persuasive
writing were presented, enabling participants to make their writing more
effective.
 Publication Process: Resource persons guided participants on the process of
selecting the right journals, manuscript preparation, journal submission, and
peer review process.
 Presentation and Feedback: The researchers presented their research papers for
feedback before faculty members, receiving helpful criticism from professionals
and peers in order to write better.
The final two days of the training, held at Om Adhyaya Resort, Tistung focused on
hands-on experiences and the practical aspects of publishing, helping participants gain
confidence in submitting their work for publication.

Conclusion
The five-day ‘Scientific Research Article Writing Training for Teaching Faculty’
was a tremendous success, and it was a big stepping stone towards establishing a
strong academic research culture at United College. By means of expert-guided
sessions and practitioner-focused workshops, the faculty members acquired a sharp
eye for research approaches, academic writing, and publication strategies.
Not only did this initiative assist in the professional growth of the faculty
members, but it also assisted in closing the gap between research and teaching,
creating a stronger focus on academic scholarship at United College. The training was
well-received by all the participants, and it has opened doors for further capacity-
building activities in the near future.
It is an achievement that bears witness to the value of ongoing professional
development and its implications for influencing the future generation of researchers
and scholars.
