The 1st semester BCA and BBM students from United College recently embarked on a thrilling Outreach Program to Bandipur on April 20th, 2023. The goal of this field trip was to conduct research as part of their Sociology course, chapter "Social Science and Research Methods". The students were eager to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of Bandipur and gain valuable insights into the social issues the locals faced.

After arriving in Bandipur at 2:30 in the afternoon, the students wasted no time and began their research questionnaire. Their research aimed to delve into the challenges faced by the locals in areas such as working women, the impact of Covid-19 on local businesses, and agricultural issues.


The students were divided into groups of five and surveyed more than 100 locals, interacting with them and learning about their day-to-day lives. They prepared multiple-choice questions and analyzed the responses they received. The students worked tirelessly to gather data and are currently preparing for their upcoming report and presentation after their exams.


Not only did the Outreach Program allow the students to enrich their communication and interpersonal skills, but it also provided them with great insights into the realities of the locals in Bandipur. For instance, the students discovered that many local women faced challenges due to their husbands working overseas. Additionally, Covid-19 had affected local businesses, causing extreme financial difficulties, but things were now starting to improve.


The students also contributed to the cleanliness of Bandipur by distributing 15 dustbins to the Bandipur Gaupalika. The students left a positive impact on the community by contributing to the cleanliness of the village and making it a better place to live.

This Outreach Program was a fun-filled and educational experience that gave the students an opportunity to learn about the world beyond the classroom. The students left with new perspectives and a better understanding of the diverse social issues faced by people in different communities.

As we progress into the future, it is important that students gain a better understanding of the social realities of different communities. This Outreach Program to Bandipur was a fantastic initiative taken by United College to provide their students with an immersive learning experience. Such initiatives not only help students learn about the real-life challenges people face but also foster a sense of responsibility towards society. The students who participated in the Outreach Program will carry these experiences with them for the rest of their lives, and it will undoubtedly shape their outlook on society and the world.
