Peer Review Team Remarks on United College
The reviewers were warm in their praise. At the same time, they were honest about the work still ahead. Here is what each of them shared.
Prof. Dr. Subash KC, Team Leader
Prof. KC began by looking at his past. He noted that the college started its quality work since its inception in 2002 AD.
"Within 24 years, you have made tremendous progress," he said.
He then explained the purpose of the visit. The team had come to check that progress. They also wanted to make sure the college is moving in the right direction. A few things still needed to be verified, he added. But the team was also there to give direction and suggestions, so the process could move faster.
Next, he spoke about why a college should seek accreditation at all. In his words, "Accreditation is done for aspiration, not for greed."
He closed with an old saying. "What is here may be found elsewhere. But what is not here is found nowhere." His message was simple. To be the best, a college must offer quality that cannot be found anywhere else.
Mr. Narayan Prasad Bhandari, Staff Team Member
Mr. Bhandari opened with a personal story. He narrated that he first heard about United College when he was young. Now, after seeing it with his own eyes, he named it a “Brand".
He also shared a simple way to think about quality. "Quality does not have a face, shape, size or colour," he said. Instead, quality is about how people feel it. That is why it must show up in the daily experience of every student.
Finally, he reminded everyone that accreditation ensures quality. So, in his view, an accreditation certificate tells the public one thing. This is a quality institution for the people it serves.
The Team's Overall Impression
The team summed up its view of United College in two lines.
"UC is already a very good institution, and it is in the process of becoming even a better one."
"The institution has Its potential to grow and the possibility of becoming the best of the best."
These are remarks from the visit. These are not the final accreditation decision. Even so, they say a lot. They come from independent experts who were there to question, not to please.
Understanding the QAA Peer Review Team (PRT) Visit
A PRT pre-visit is a check by outside experts. They visit to a college to observe if what it says about itself is true.
First, the college writes a detailed report about itself. This is called the Self-Study Report (SSR). It covers teaching, results, research, student support, facilities, and management. Then a team of senior academics visits the college again. They look for proof and talk to the people behind the work.
UGC Nepal started this system in 2007 AD. Taking part is a choice, not a rule. So, when a college joins, it is saying something clear. It is ready to be checked in the open.

Explaining Few Terms
UGC Nepal is the national body that looks after higher education in Nepal. It gives the final accreditation decision.
QAA stands for Quality Assurance and Accreditation. This is how UGC checks and certifies the quality of a college.
PRT means Peer Review Team. This is the group of senior academicians who visit the college and write the review report.
SSR is the Self-Study Report. The college prepares it, and UGC must approve it first.
IQAC is the Internal Quality Assurance Cell Committee. It is the team inside the college that looks after quality all year.
Choosing the Best Bachelor College in Lalitpur
Every student is looking for the best bachelor college in Lalitpur or the wider Kathmandu Valley. But "best" should mean more than a big claim on a banner. It should mean its proof.
That is why this visit matters. UGC experts have now looked closely at United College. And they called it a very good institution with its potential to be the best. So, here is what sets UC apart.
It Chose to Be Checked
Joining QAA is voluntary. Yet United College chose to open its results, records and systems to external reviewers. Not every college takes that step.
It Is a Name People Trust
United College is a Tribhuvan University-affiliated college in Kumaripati, Lalitpur. It has served students for more than 24 years. Over the years, many of its students have topped TU board exams. As the reviewer put it, UC has become a "Brand".
It Offers Clear Pathway for Your Career
United College offers five TU programmes:
- BBM (Bachelor of Business Management)
- BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application)
- BBS (Bachelor of Business Studies)
- BA (Bachelor of Arts)
- MBS (Master of Business Studies)
It Teaches You by Doing
Every programme includes hands-on work. Students carry out field surveys, write business plans, build projects, and complete internships. MBS students also write a full dissertation. On top of that, classes and assignments run on a digital learning platform.
It Backs Ideas and Research
Students can turn ideas into businesses at the United Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Incubation (UCEII). For those who enjoy research, the college runs its own peer-reviewed journal, UJIS, which is indexed on NepJOL.
It Supports Every Student
Scholarships and a Student Welfare Fund help students who need support. Meanwhile, students, parents, and alumni can share feedback at any time through the online Feedback Box.
It Keeps Things Open
The college publishes its Annual Reports, Audit Reports, United Luminary and Tracer Study Reports. Anyone can read them. In short, UC does not ask you to take its word. It shows you the proof.
Next Steps After the PRT Visit
The review team will now send its report to UGC Nepal. A council within UGC will study it and suggest a decision. After that, UGC will make the final then.
In the meantime, the college will act on the team's suggestions. As Prof. KC said, the goal is to move the process forward faster.
United College has not yet received its accreditation decision. We will share every update on this page as soon as it approved.

Closing Words
IQAC Coordinator Dr. Kabi Raj Bantawa closed the session with a saying that fit the day well.
"Where there is heat and pressure, there is light," he said.
He explained that the review team brought both heat and pressure. But that pressure also lit the way forward. And in the end, it will help United College keep its quality high and keep getting better.
Also, Campus Chief, Dr. Lal Rapacha on behalf of United College team express his commitment to uphold United’s best quality.
