The United Talent Hunt (UTH) was a grand event that took place recently on dated 17th of March 2023, and it was a sight to behold! The event was organized by the United College, and it saw students from various schools, including United School, United Universal School, United Academy, and United College, come together to showcase their talents.


From over 6000 students, only a few students were chosen to participate in the final event. The anticipation was high, and the excitement was palpable as everyone eagerly awaited the event.

What made this year's event even more special was the fact that the host was an alumnus of United Academy, Sofia Karki Maharjan. Her presence added a personal touch to the event, and she shared fond memories of her time at the school almost two decades ago. Her anecdotes and wit set the tone for the event, and everyone was eagerly looking forward to what was in store.

The event started with the National Anthem, where all the guests stood up to show their respect. After that, Mr. Basant Nepali, the Academic Head, delivered a heartwarming welcome speech, welcoming all the students, teachers, and alumni present at the event. Then, the Principal of United College, Dr. Lal Rapacha, inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp.

The organizers then distributed tokens of love to all the students, teachers, sponsors, and organizing members as a token of appreciation. The painting, essay, and story competitions for both the junior and senior categories were also held, and the winners were announced amidst great cheers and applause. Among the winners from these competitions were for painting, Nirdesh Tamang 1st, Kristina Tamang 2nd, Bandana Rai 3rd, Bismita Timilsina 1st, Animon Rapacha 2nd and Grishma Shakya 3rd for essay writing & Syra Rai 1st, Tanuja Devkota 2nd & Samman Rai 3rd for story.

After that, the main event began, where the participants had the chance to showcase their talents to the whole crowd. The first round was the speech, where the participants spoke on various topics like the impact of technology, the usage of plastic bags, brain drain, and labor migration. From all of the speeches given, the best-selected speakers were “Animon Rapacha 1st, Dibya Shakya 2nd, and Subham Kharel 3rd. The passion and enthusiasm with which the participants delivered their speeches were truly inspiring.

The second round was the Poem, and the participants recited their original poems with flair and finesse 1st prize went to Bismita Timalsina 2nd to Jasmine Rai and 3rd prize to Aashish Shrestha. The drama segment featured a solo performance by Unity Aka Hostellers, and their play, "Awashyakta Pariwartan," was a touching portrayal of the need for change. The performers Unity AkA hostellers were announced winners there afterwards. Solo song was performed by the students among the winners were, 1st Adarsh Tamang, 2nd Samyak Koirala and 3rd Raman Rijal.

The dance segment was divided into solo and group performances, and the participants didn't disappoint. The junior dance solo performances featured a variety of dance styles like Damphu Selo, Shiva Tandav, Newari Song, Basanta Siri, Nepali ki chori hu mah, and Tamang Selo. The senior dance solo performances were equally impressive, with participants showcasing their skills in Chari Yantiya, Para Xu, Nachideu Fanakkai, Jhyaure Dance, and Kathak. Remisha Budathoki was the winner for Junior dance solo bragging 1st prize, she was followed by Greshika Tandukar 2nd and Sudin Khadka 3rd, The Dance group performance was won by the “The Sakela Group” and followed by Gunjan Shreesh 2nd and Hostel Boys (1-0-MIC) 3rd. 

The dance group performances were a treat for the eyes and ears, featuring performances like Satar Cultural Dance, Kauda Song, Sakela, Jana Ra Saili Jane Ho, and Hait ko Dauri. The song-band performances were equally impressive, with bands like Sadhai Sadhai, Khasey ko Tara, Audei Jadai, Sankriti, and Plan A taking the stage by storm. The winners for the song band were Niskarsha 1st, The Unbeatables 2nd, and 3rd position went to band Plan A.

Overall, the United Talent Hunt was a spectacular event, and it was a great platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity. The organizers and participants worked tirelessly to make the event a success, and it truly was a day to remember.
